The guidelines below are presented for your convenience to assist you with setting up and using email effectively.
· Relevant subject lines (relative to body content and not deceptive).
· A legitimate physical address of your business should be present in the email.
· Avoid including images with large physical file sizes (over 1MB) with your email content. (the smaller the better) Image file formats like JPEG can produce smaller file sizes compared to BMP.
· A message should contain at least one sentence.
· A visible and operable unsubscribe mechanism should be present in all emails such as one of the following:
o Text that describes to the user how to unsubscribe.
o An email link they can click to create an unsubscribe email request.
· Unsubscribe option should be below the message.
· Honor consumer opt-out requests within several business days. After receiving an opt-out or unsubscribe request update customer Communications Preferences for the Location and/or Billing Account. Not honoring consumer opt-out requests may lead to complaints that may negatively impact the reputation of your email account or provider.
· Periodically monitor your "unsubscribe" mailboxes to respond to user requests for opting-out of e-mail communications. Not honoring consumer opt-out requests may lead to complaints that may negatively impact the reputation of your email account or provider.
· Check with your local, state, and federal laws regarding e-mail content and anti-spam regulations. Regulations may vary from country to country.
· Test your email templates using a SPAM testing service. (For example: http://www.mail-tester.com/)
