With OpenEdge's Decline Minimizer program you can automatically retrieve updates from participating card issuing banks when a card number or expiration date changes for a card that is stored as an alias in the OpenEdge Gateway. This means that if a card number or expiration date changes, SuccessWare21 will automatically be updated the next time the card is used. The result, far less declines and making call to get updated card information.
To use the Decline Minimizer feature, you must first enroll your OpenEdge Merchant Account in the service. To enroll your account please contact your OpenEdge account representative.
Once you are enrolled, Decline Minimizer works behind the scenes so there is nothing for you to do or configure. You simply process payments exactly as you always have in SuccessWare21. After processing, if the card number or expiration date has changed, SuccessWare21 will automatically be updated for that change.
One of the requirements when using Decline Minimizer is that when a customer asks you to delete their card on file, the application will remove that alias from the OpenEdge vault. SuccessWare21 has been updated as follows to accommodate this requirement:
1. Deleting payment accounts on file has been removed from the Payment Method popup menu, instead it is accessed via right-clicking on the Billing Account Details form and choosing Remove On-File Payment Methods
2. If the document you are working with is the last document containing the current credit card, you will not be allowed to change the payment method until you first remove the card from the OpenEdge vault. This is done via the Remove Card or Change Card action link of the Payment Processing Wizard.
Decline Minimizer updates are logged in the SuccessWare21 database. At this time this logging is not visible within the application.
