User Account Lockout

SuccessWare21 can be configured to lock user accounts after an excessive number of failed attempts to login.  This feature helps prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to SuccessWare21 through brute force hacking attempts.

Configuration

To configure the security settings, go to the SW21 Main Menu, select the Setup category, and open the General Setup form. The settings are available under the Password tab.

·          Enable Account Lockout

o     Check this box to enable this feature.

o    Select the sequential number of failed attempts that will trigger locking an account.

·         Auto-Release Account Lock

o    This option is only available if the Account Lockout is enabled.

o    Check this box to enable the feature.

o    Select the number of minutes you would like for an account to remain locked before it will automatically unlock.

·         Auto-Reset Lockout Counter

o    This option is only available if the Auto-Release Account Lock feature is enabled.

o    Check this box to enable the feature.

o    Select the number of minutes between login attempts that must pass before the failed login counter resets itself.

Unlocking a user account

When a user account gets locked out, it may be necessary for an administrator to unlock the account.  Only a user with access to User Setup can manually unlock another user account.

To unlock a user account:

o    Open the User Manager (SW21 Main Menu | Setup | User Manager)

o    Select the user, and Open (double-click or Enter)

o    Select the Unlock Account button.  Unlocking the account also resets the Failed Login Attempt counter for the account.
