Legal Company Name and Address

A company can be set up with a legal company name and address separate from operational business name. Legal company name and address is used for forms and reports that are intended for reporting to governmental institutions. The legal company name and address, if present, will be used

· for printing on 1099-MISC forms

· optionally, to print on checks when printing checks on blank check stock

To set up legal company name:

· Go to Company Setup ("21" Main Menu | Setup | Company), select Edit.

· On the Address/Phone tab, select the Legal Name button to enter or modify the legal company name.

· To enter a legal name, select the Use Separate Legal Name checkbox. This will enable the legal name fields for editing.

· If you use blank check stock for printing checks and would like the legal name to print instead of your operational name, select the Use Legal Name on Blank Check Stock option.

· Select OK to accept your changes and return to Company Setup.

· Select Save to save changes.
