The SuccessWare21 Http Server (SWAPI) has a new option for obtaining point-to-point directions. SWAPI can now be configured to work with the MapPoint Web Service offered by Microsoft. Previously, SWAPI only worked with a locally installed copy of the MapPoint application. This change allows users to choose the more cost efficient option for their situation.
Options now are:
· Disabled - This will turn off the ability for Third-Party applications to access MapPoint. This is the default setting.
· Use Local Application - This will turn on the ability for Third-Party applications to access point-to-point directions using a local installation of the MapPoint application. If you choose this option, you will be prompted with a dialog box informing you of possible additional licensing requirements, and asking you to acknowledge. You are responsible for meeting any licensing requirements for the MapPoint Application as required by Microsoft's End-User License Agreement.
· Use Web Service- This will turn on the ability for Third-Party applications to access point-to-point directions using Microsoft's MapPoint Web Service. If you choose this option, you will need to enter your account information for the MapPoint Web Service. You are responsible for obtaining a MapPoint Web Service Account and paying all associated fees. Please see Microsoft's MapPoint Web Service Website for details.
With the installation of this update, MapPoint is disabled by default. Until a mapping option is selected, any requests for directions by a third-party application will receive an error message stating "MapPoint is Disabled. Contact your SWAPI Administrator to enable MapPoint."
To make your MapPoint selection, follow the instructions below.
