Pricebook—Task Pricing Enhancements

Three new features have been added to the pricing of tasks within the pricebook.

·   “Our Price” Override—override the sale price (“our price”) for individual tasks.

·   Tiered Pricing—Setup tiered pricing as part of your price formulas for tasks and assign groups to tiers.

“Our Price” Override

To override the calculated sale price of a task:

1)       Edit the task

2)       On the “Standard Price” page check the ‘Override our price’ checkbox

3)       Enter an override amount

4)       Recalculate the price by clicking the ‘Recalc pricing’ button.

Now you can setup tasks to still update cost, determine sale prices and build price levels, but use a fixed sale price as “Our Price”.  This fixed sale price will be used to build price levels (if the formulas specify use of price levels).

When overriding “Our Price”, the difference between the the originally calculated ‘our price’ and the override amount will be balanced in the miscellaneous sale:

MiscSale = MiscSale + (OverridePrice – OriginalOurPrice)

For example: given a task whose pricing is calculated to be:

Parts Sale =   $ 100.00
Labor Sale =   $ 200.00
Misc Sale =    $ 50.00

Total Sale =    $ 350.00 (OriginalOurPrice)

If we setup an overide price of $299.99 (OverridePrice), the pricing would calculate as follows:

Parts Sale =   $ 100.00
Labor Sale =   $ 200.00
Misc Sale =   ($ 0.01)

Total Sale =    $ 299.99

Notice that the miscellaneous sale can be less than zero ($50.00 + (350.00 – 299.99)).

If on the other hand we setup and override price of $359.99, the pricing would calculate as follows:

Parts Sale =   $ 100.00
Labor Sale =   $ 200.00
Misc Sale =    $ 59.99

Total Sale =    $ 359.99

Using this option allows you to maintain task detail and cost, at the same time locking tasks in at particular prices.

Tiered Pricing

The price override is used when implementing tiered pricing on tasks.  Via tiered pricing, you can control the “overide price” on tasks at the category level:

·   Setup price tiers for your task categories on the ‘task’ page of the price formula setup.
(e.g., level1=$49.99, level2=$99.99, level3=$149.99, level4=$199.99)

·   Edit task groups and assign them to tiers (this will assign the tier to each task within the group).

When the category or individual task is repriced, the normally caculated sale price will be overridden to match the price setup for that tier in the price formulas.
